Japan's Apline Route

This is the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route (立山黒部アルペンルート Tateyama Kurobe Arupen Rūto?), a 22 miles stretch of mountain road between Toyama and Nagano, Japan.  This amazing scenic route was first opened in 1971.  You can enjoy the entire route from only April to June, before the snow arrives.   The main attraction of the route is the Tateyama Mountain Range which is part of the Chubu Sangaku National Park.  The route is even more spectacular in spring when accumulated snow in the upper sections of the route form a majestic snow corridor whose snow walls reach up to 65 feet tall!
