Terrific! Some Island! Radiant!

Only in the Bahamas will you find glorious pigs frolicking in the sea :).  Yes, PIGS!   The Bahamas has over 360 islands, one being the Island of Big Major Cay.  And next to this cay, you will find a smaller island named Staniel Cay which happens to have several fresh water springs.  It's been said that sailors left pigs on Big Major Cay and planned to return to someday to cook them, but they never returned.  The pigs apparently survived off of garbage left from passing ships.  Another legend states that the pigs were survivors of a shipwreck who managed to swim to shore.  And another says that the pigs had escaped from a nearby islet. And finally,  that the pigs were planted on the island to attract tourists (hmmm.. not so sure about that one). Whatever the case,  the pigs are fed lovingly by locals. The island is now unofficially dubbed Pig Beach (quite fitting) as it's home to 20 pigs, give or take a few.  It is also home to a few stray cats and a few goats as well.
