Liquid Rainbow!

Cano Cristales, also known as The River of Five Colors or Liquid Rainbow,  is a river located in the country of Colombia South America.   The river appears in many colors including yellow, red, green, black and blue.   The rocks of the area are about 1.2 billion years old and among the oldest in the world. In the river you will find circular deep pits (giant kettles) created by swirling rocks as a result of water currents.  The rocks carve out a cavity and eventually increase the dimension of the pit.  The area also has a diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna.  Cano Cristales has aquatic plants and coral, but absolutely no fish.  The bright red is caused by Macarenia Clavigera (Podostemaceae), an endemic plant at the bottom of the river.
