Purple?

I am starting to wonder if there is a beach of every color on our wonderfully diverse planet :).   I think I've blogged pink, black and green, but now it's time for PURPLE.  This is Pfeiffer Beach, CA in the heart of Big Sur, California USA (central CA).  It's fairly remote beach and apparently, the further north you walk along the beach, the brighter the purple becomes.
The beach is spotted with large and small areas of purple due to manganese garnet in the hills surrounding the beach.  If you look closely, you will find various shades of violet, red, pink and purple.  Now I'm on a mission to find every color of the rainbow on our world's beaches.
