China has a new trend, painted puppies. Apparently street vendors are cashing in on this new trend by selling adorable puppy painted to look like even more adorable exotic pets. The chow breed painted as a panda bear has made it's round through the internet lately. While it may be adorable, many of these vendors are using toxic tarnish. The puppies have been given the name "one week puppies" as they live expectancy is so short. Some vendors are telling customers that the dogs are a "new breed" and selling under false pretenses. This isn't just a new trend in China, I've seen colorful dogs painted in my local neighborhood :). I do believe the doggy parents use non toxic coloring products and the dogs look happy and healthy. I also found online international extreme dog grooming contests.
