I love these images :). These fisherman are located on the shores of southern Sri Lanka. Oddly enough, this is a relatively new fishing technique developed after WWII when fishing spots along the shore became too crowed. Young men began fishing off ship wrecks and aircraft left behind during the war. Some creative fellows moved even further with stilts :). Today, Sri Lankans still enjoy this form of fishing, however fisheries on the decline after the Tsunami in 2004 that permanently altered the shoreline. Fishing now in the area now has poor returns. The Sri Lankan stilt fishing is now primarily a tourist attraction, however some men still make a living seasonally.
