Ronald Reagan Library

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the men and women who died while serving in the country's armed forces. Today, May 26, 2014, is that day and I thought I would share a little spot in California who honors our once Commander and Chief of the USA military,  President Ronald Reagan.   A man in which some may argue his politics, but few could argue his character.   Not long ago, I enjoyed a trip to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and final resting place of this great man (our 40th president).  The library is located in Simi Valley, CA, about 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.  Construction of the library began in 1988, and the center was dedicated on November 4, 1991.   The museum has continually changing exhibits, as well as various permanent exhibits covering the span of his life including his childhood, his film career, his military service, his marriage Nancy and his political career.  Footage can been seen of Reagans 1964 'A Time for Choosing'.  There is a large gallery in which you can view photos of his career and personal life.   A full scale replication of the Oval Office from the White House is on permanent display, as well as over 80 designer dresses that belonged his wife.   On  the grounds, you will find a F-14 bomber, a piece of the Berlin Wall and a partial re-creation of the White Lawn during his period. The highlight of the library is the Airforce One Pavilion that is a whopping 90,000 SF exhibit hanger.  It is home to a Boeing 707 aircraft utilized as Air Force One during his administration.
