Not a fan of sand? There are options! Along the famous Promenade des Anglais (Nice, France) you will find your typical beach and it's typical beach with their towels, umbrellas and kiddos. This beach however has one minor difference, it's made of stones. It is considered to be a shingle beach. This is a beach which is armoured with pebbles or small- to medium-sized cobbles (as opposed to fine sand). Typically, the stone composition may grade from characteristic sizes ranging from two to 200 mm diameter. The stones are rounded and shouldn't cause any damage. The stones might not be comfortable for barefoot walking, but sure beats sand in the suit.
