Just a MASSIVE algae bloom, but what an amazing event at this public beach in Qingdao, northeast China's Shandong province. This isn't it's first algae bloom, but definitely it's greatest. The bloom occurred on July 4, 2013 (good thing it didn't happen in USA on that day). The algae hit along the shores of the Yellow Sea forcing closure of the beach, but obviously that didn't stop all the beach goers. The algae was actually non-poisonous green seaweed known as enteromorpha prolifera. Would you swim in this??
