Airport or Beach? Beach or Airport? Not sure!

Only in St. Maarten, on the Caribbean island's Dutch side will you find the amazing airport-beach combo, Princess Juliana Aiport!  And at the end of her runway, you will also find Maho Beach.  A place where you can do what else but....  view planes. If you'd like,  you can wave to the passengers on the plane and they many very well wave back :).  The beach is a popular site for tourists and plane enthusiasts who would enjoy getting a close up encounter with a flying plane.  Apparently it's a loud, windy and harrowing experience.  Over 103,000 planes fly over this beach per year, so there is plenty opportunity to thrill seek.  The airport was named after Princess Juliana of the Netherlands who landed on the island in 1944.  Runway number 09's approach is over the ocean and pilots can become easily disoriented.  This makes the airport also known for being "difficult".  Fortunately,  there have been no major incidents at this particular airport, except in 1970 an airplane crashed nearby in the ocean after attempting to make several unsuccessful landing (do to bad weather conditions).  That being said,  I'm ready to buy my ticket!
