Underground City!

Cappadocia is a historical region in Central Anatolia located in central Turkey.  They area has several villages and  towns that date back to the 6th century BC.  Cappadocia has a rich history which is worth researching but a bit lengthy for my blog (try wiki). Today the area is a popular tourist destination with unique land formations, history and culture, as well as several underground cities and towns.  Tourist often explore the area via hot air ballooning, trekking, horse back riding and more.  Many people lived in the villages with homes, churches and monasteries carved within the soft rocks.  Cities, empires and religions have risen and fallen around these unique underground havens.  Surprisingly, many of the homes remain occupied to this day.  Today there are 100 square miles with over 200 underground villages and tunnel towns complete with hidden passages, secret rooms and ancient temples.  Today, many of these buildings are comprised of visitor oriented services such as hotels.
