Surfing seems to be finding me today in peculiar ways and seems to be a universal sport, at times, in peculiar ways. Not everyone living in Kerala, India lives near the sea. Many live near rice fields and instead of surf boards, they have bulls :). Yes, it's bull surfing. This sport entails chasing down two charging bulls, grabbing on to them and sliding full speed through a rice paddy. If you are interested in taking up this sport, head on down to the Pathanamthitta villages of Southern, India in the month of August. Here you will find the Maramadi harvest festival. After the main festivities, yoked bulls are sent charging through the rice fields soaked in about 1/2 of water.
