Red Tide

Bondi Beach is one of Australia's famed beaches, however on a rare occasion, a natural phenomenon occurs altering it's beautiful blue waters to blood red.  This is known as a 'red tide. it's due to an unusually high level of algae bloom.  This occurs when water temperatures are higher than normal mixed with great movement of the ocean's current.  The event was accompanied by a 'fishy' smell and the beach was closed for safety precautions as there are some possible risks to human health including eye irritation and skin rashes. Sadly, fish often die during red tides causing the 'fishy' smell.  All that being said,  it's strangely beautiful..  don't you think?
