World's Greatest Deception!

Any guesses why this island was named Deception Island??? This island is located in the South Shetland Island Archipelago off the Antartic Pennisula. The island itself is the caldera of an active volcano, as the island is literally the crater of an erupted volcano which has flooded in the 1980s. Today the island is home to a scientific outpost (that was twice destroyed by the volcano in the 1960s) and a handful of brave tourists. The crater is now Kroner Lake and it's the only intertidal pool in all of Antarctica with HOT SPRINGS! The water supports a unique community of brackish-water algae and apparently is a great place to take a dip. This spots is very much worth of Strange Spots! Would you go for a dip?
