Big Blue Hole

The Blue whole is a sink hole and cave in the Caribbean Sea forty-three miles approximately off the coast of Belize.  The diameter is 942 across and the depth is 407 feet. About 153,000 the blue whole started to form.  Initially it was a land cave, yet over time the ocean began to rise and the cave was filled with ocean water.  This left our beautiful blue whole.  Today, the blue whole is recognized as a world heritage site.  It became quite famous after being visited the great diver Jacques Costeau.  Today it is visited by divers and snorkelers frequently.  In the crystal clear Caribbean waters,  one can see a variety of sea life including midnight parrot fish and an occasional bullhead or hammerhead shark.
