Poison Garden

The Alnwick Garden is located at the Alnwick Castle in the town of  Alnwick Northumberland, England.  The garden was originally planted in 1970 by the Duke of Northumberland.    During WWII, the garden was utilized to grow food.  In 1950, the garden was closed until 1997 when Jane Percy, Duchess of Northumberland revitalized the garden.  The garden continued to flourish but it wasn't until 2006 that a poison garden and visitor center was added.  The garden now belongs to a charitable trust after being donated by the Duke of Northumberland. Today you can enjoy some of the world's most deadly and intoxicating plants of the world, as well as their traditional gardens on the site.
