Space House

The International Space Station is an artificial satelitte in low earth orbit (220 miles above).   It is a modular structure whose first component was sent into space in 1998.  It is currently the lowest object in orbit and it can be seen with the naked eye if you take the time to look.  The ISS is a microgravity and space environment research laboratory in which crew members conduct experiements on the body, biology, physics, meteorology astronomy and more.  The space station has been continually occupied for 13 years and has been visited by astronauts and cosmonauts from 15 different nations.  Each crew member stays for approximately six months from launch to undocking.  Typically expeditions carry up to seven members safely.  Space flight "participants" are those who pay for their own passage to space.  Some refer to them as space tourists.  The cost to tour space is about 40 million to the general public.  They must also pass an intense medical exam.  There's just too much to write about the International Space Station,  but I felt that I must not ignore probably the strangest orbiting house in the world (well, out of this world).
